"With This Ring"

Felipe

The day before Felipe was to leave, he spent most of the day with his sweetheart.  They whiled away the afternoon down by the river, reading Shakespeare's sonnets which left Ana Maria in tears.   Victoria prepared a special romantic meal for them in the evening which they ate in the privacy of her quarters.

Felipe was very conscious of the door that led to Victoria's bedroom.  He was aching to take Ana Maria inside and show her how much he loved her.  But he knew he couldn't.  It wouldn't be right, or fair

Fighting the temptation of the soft bed in the next room, he led Ana Maria outside after they had finished eating.  The night sky was clear and the stars were twinkling brightly.  They automatically headed for their special place down by the river.  They could hear other couples scattered here and there among the trees and realized they weren't the only ones whose hearts would be broken that night.

Felipe drew Ana into his arms and embraced her tightly.   He didn't want to leave her.  He wanted to stay and be with the people he loved.  But he knew he had to do his duty.  Taking a deep breath, Felipe pulled back so he could see his sweetheart's face.  As he suspected, tears were flowing down her beautiful cheeks.  He kissed them, tasting the saltiness the tears had left behind.  Then he kissed her lips.

When they finally came up for air, Felipe reached into his pocket and brought out a ring.  It was made of three strands of silver braided together.  He had seen Ana Maria admiring it whenever they had passed by the smithy's.  The de la Vegas had given him an allowance from the day he had first came to live with them and he had saved most of it.  The ring had been expensive but Felipe wanted to give it her as a token of his love for her. If worse came to worse it would be at least something to remember him by.  He held it up for her to see.

    "Oh Felipe," she murmured.

He used sign language to ask her if she would wait for him.  Felipe wished more than anything he could tell her he could speak as well as hear. But his voice had disappeared again.   He had been frightened when he had awakened that morning unable to utter a sound.

"Are you asking me to wait for you?" she replied.  Felipe nodded.  "Of course I will."  Ana Maria gazed deeply into his eyes.  "You must promise to come back to me safe and sound.  Oh Felipe, I love you so much."

選 love you too,' he said soundlessly although he was straining to speak.  Felipe reached for her hand and placed the ring on her finger, the one where a wedding ring would go.  They glanced up at each other, realizing the significance of what he had done.  In his heart, he already felt married to her and he could see that she felt the same way.

They melted into each other's arms and he kissed her with all the passion he had pent up inside.  Felipe felt her knees buckle and quickly lowered her down to sit on the fallen log where they had spent so many hours together reading and kissing.   Their tongues intertwined as they pressed closer together.  Felipe's desire was growing rapidly as he caressed his hands up and down her back as she did the same to him.

"Oh Felipe, I don't want you to go," she murmured tearfully.  Then she kissed him just beneath his ear, causing him to shudder with need, before returning her lips to his.

Felipe brought one of his hands up her side, causing her to moan into his mouth.  Then damning the consequences, he moved his hand up to cup her breast.  She groaned even louder.

"Oh," she whispered, tipping her head back.  Felipe kissed her exposed neck as he brought his other hand up to caress her other breast.  She was biting her lip; to stop herself from crying out with pleasure, Felipe hoped.  He rubbed his thumbs over the hard buds of her nipples.  She whimpered as though in pain and that brought him up short until he saw the blissful expression on her face.

Somehow they ended up on the ground with Felipe lying nearly on top of Ana Maria. He had taken off his jacket and had placed it under her head.  She did nothing to stop him from slipping her dress from her shoulders and baring her magnificent breasts.   He gently touched his lips to one of the nipples.  He was surprised by her reaction.  She raised herself up toward him, groaning passionately. Encouraged by her response, Felipe flicked his tongue on the buds of both of her breasts.

He became bolder then, taking a nipple into his mouth and sucking gently.   It had been something he had dreamed about doing almost since the moment he had met her.  She softly bit into his shoulder to keep from calling out; she was as conscious as he was that they weren't really alone.

Somewhere in the back of his mind, a little voice was screaming at Felipe to stop.  That what he was doing was wrong.  Then he looked at Ana.  "Please, Felipe," she pleaded.  "I want you to keep touching me."

He knew what would happen though if they didn't stop soon.  Mentally moaning at the thought of finding his release deep inside of her, he realized he couldn't take that final step.

Even though he loved her, even though this might be the only opportunity he would ever have to make love to her, Felipe couldn't take the chance she might become pregnant.  What if he never came back?  It would be unfair to burden her with a child under such circumstances.

He leaned and  kissed her once more.  Her skirts had ridden up, exposing her legs. Felipe went to pull them back down but his hand grazed against her bare thigh.  She moaned softly and placed her hand over his so he couldn't remove it.  She kissed his lips, his throat, and anywhere else she could reach.

Felipe moved his hand slowly up under her skirt until he reached the juncture of her legs.  She was hot, and moist, so ready for him.  Stifling a loud groan, he searched for the little piece of flesh about which Diego had told him.  He knew he had found it when Ana Maria caught her breath then moaned.  Stroking it gently, he brought her to a climax.  She let out a strangled cry as she arched her back, pressing herself against his hand.

He began to move his swollen manhood against her right hip as he continued to caress his fingers between her thighs. His trousers were still on but it felt exquisite as he rubbed myself against her.  All too swiftly he shuddered violently as his seed erupted from his loins as she once again came against his hand.   Felipe collapsed beside Ana Maria , both of them breathing raggedly.

He signed to her once he stop shaking, asking if she was all right.  She nodded then smiled over at him.

"Felipe, that was so wonderful," she murmured.  "I love you so much."

He mouthed that he love her too.  Then he wrapped his arms around  her and held her tight. Taking a deep breath, he began to mentally berate himself for behaving like such a cerdo.   He was no better than Quiñones and the rest of the fellows his age who took advantage of young women.  Then Ana Maria looked over at him, seemingly reading his mind.   "Don't be upset," she implored, "I love you, Felipe."  She caressed his cheek. "I never knew. . .  You were so sweet."

He reddened at her praise.  It had been quite amazing.  She was so responsive to his touch and he to hers.  They gazed at each other shyly, knowing that something special had occurred between them, strengthening the bond they already felt.

Felipe helped her straighten out her clothing, pulling down her skirts and pulling up the top of her dress.  There was nothing he could do about the damp stain on the front of his trousers.  Thankfully it was dark, hopefully no one would notice. Then he assisted Ana Maria to her feet.

They spent some brushing the dead leaves, grass, and twigs from their clothing.  He took special care to remove all the debris from Ana Maria's hair.  That would be all they needed, for her mother to spot something and figure out what they had been doing.

They walked slowly back to the tavern,, where they  kissed each other outside the back door.  They clung together tightly for a moment, neither of them wanting to let go.  選 love you, Ana,' he gestured.

"I love you too, Felipe," she whispered.  She kissed him again.  "I have to go.  Mama. . ."

He signaled that he understood.  Taking a deep breath, he pulled back and opened the door for her.  She stepped through the doorway, then glanced over her shoulder.  Her beautiful face was so full of sorrow it nearly broke his heart.   She closed the door but not before he heard her start to cry.

Fighting back his own tears, Felipe leaned on the wall near the door.  He didn't want to leave in the morning.  Part of him wanted to run away somewhere, taking Ana Maria with him, of course.  Somewhere far away where the authorities would never find them.  But he knew he wouldn't do it.  He had to do his duty, as unpleasant as it may be, and just hope and pray he would return safely to the people that he loved.

Exhaling, he went over to his horse and swung up into its saddle.  Nudging his heels into the animal's sides, he rode out of the pueblo toward the hacienda.

Ana Maria

Ana Maria was allowed to spend the day with Felipe, it being the last day they could be together since he would be leaving for San Diego the next morning.  They went down by the river, sitting in their special place and reading Shakespeare's sonnets.

She began trembling she started reading the eighteenth sonnet.

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou are more lovely and more temperate
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May
And summer's lease hath all too short a date. . .

Ana Maria started crying, bringing her hands up to her face as the book she had been holding fluttered to the ground.  Felipe encircled her in his arms and held her tightly.   He kissed her on the top of her head.
"Felipe, I don't want you to go," she said between sobs.  "I don't want you to die."

She glanced up at him and saw the shimmery tears in his eyes as well.  She had been making herself ill with the thoughts of him dying on some far-off battlefield.  And she could see the same worry reflected in his expression.  He responded, however, by holding her even closer.

Later that evening after they had eaten at meal especially prepared by Victoria at the tavern, Ana Maria and Felipe made their way once again to their place by the river.  She looked up into the dark sky and noticed the twinkling stars.  It would have been a beautiful night if not for the fact that Felipe was going away the next day.  Tears began to stream down her face.

She could feel his arms wrap around her and entwined hers around him.  He began kissing her cheeks then moved his mouth over hers.

They were both gasping for air before they released each others lips.  Then Felipe reached into his pocket and brought out a ring and held it up for her to see.  Ana Maria realized it was the braided silver ring she had been admiring at the smithy's.  She looked from it up into his eyes.

"Oh, Felipe," she murmured, wondering how he had known she wanted that ring.  She then watched as he made several gestures with his hands.

"Are you asking me to wait for you?" she replied.  Felipe nodded.  "Of course I will."  Ana Maria gazed deeply into his eyes.  "You must promise to come back to me safe and sound.  Oh Felipe, I love you so much."

選 love you too,' he mouthed back although it seemed to her that he was straining to speak.  He reached for her hand and placed the ring on her left hand, on her ring finger, where a wedding ring would go.  They glanced up at each other, realizing the significance of what he had done.  In her heart, she already felt married to him and she could see that he felt the same way.

They melted into each other's arms and she kissed him passionately. .Ana Maria's knees grew wobbly and she was glad that Felipe helped her to sit on the fallen log where they had spent so many hours together reading and kissing.   Their tongues intertwined as they pressed closer together.  She caressed her hands over the taut muscles of Felipe's back, causing the aching sensations in her breasts and between her legs to increase to a fever pitch.

"Oh Felipe, I don't want you to go," she murmured tearfully.  Then Ana Maria kissed him just beneath his ear and felt him shudder as if he was cold.  Concerned, she returned her lips to his.

She moaned as Felipe brought one of his hands up her side.  Then he moved his hand up to cup one of her breasts.  It swelled in his grasp, causing her to groan with an unknown yearning.

"Oh," she whispered, tipping her head back as she savored the moment.  Felipe kissed her exposed neck as he brought his other hand up to caress her other breast.  Ana Maria bit her lip to stop herself from crying out, the pleasure was so great.  Felipe then rubbed his thumbs over the hard buds of her nipples.  She whimpered as the simple gestures cause the secret place between her thighs to throb and grow even damper.

Somehow they ended up on the ground with Felipe lying nearly on top of her . Ana Maria watched with a smile as Felipe stripped off his jacket and gallantly placed it under her head.  She did nothing to stop him from slipping her dress from her shoulders and exposing her breasts to his gaze.   She shivered from the cool night air and with anticipation as he lowered his lips to one of her nipples.  The unexpected sensation caused her to buck upward then moan with need.  The fire raging inside her grew even hotter as Felipe flicked his tongue on the buds of both of her breasts.

She had to press her mouth against his linen-covered shoulder as he took one of her nipples and began to gently suckle it.  She didn't realize she had sunk her teeth into his flesh until he pulled back and gazed down on her ruefully.

He was worried about dishonoring her, she guessed.  Well, she didn't care. She wanted to find out what happened between men and women.  And Felipe was the one she wanted to teach her.   This might be the only chance she would ever have to be with him like this.

"Please, Felipe," she pleaded.  "I want you to keep touching me."

She noticed his hesitance before he leaned back down and kissed her again.  She felt Felipe's hand on her bare thigh, not even knowing until then that her skirts had ridden up her legs.   She put her hand over his so he couldn't pull them back down.  She kissed his lips, his throat, and anywhere else she could reach.

Ana Maria thought she was going to faint as Felipe slowly trailed his fingers up her thigh and onto the curls covering her secret place.  She gasped for breath when he touched a small piece of flesh, as it made her whole body convulse with an unfamiliar thrill.

Felipe stroked the tingling spot until the pressure inside her was so great, it broke over her in spasms of pleasure.  She arched her back up off the ground and had to stop herself from crying out as she was astounded by what she was feeling.

Ana Maria barely had time to catch her breath before Felipe began to rub himself against her right hip.  She could feel something very hard, very rigid moving against her soft skin.  But she didn't have time to dwell on it as he continued to caress her womanly core with his fingers.

All of a sudden, Felipe  shuddered violently as she once again found release against his hand.  He collapsed beside her , his ragged breathing matching her own.  They laid there for a few moments before Felipe gestured to her, asking her if she was all right.

Ana Maria nodded then smiled.  "Felipe, that was so wonderful," she said softly.  "I love you so much."

She read his lips as he mouthed that he love her too.  Then he wrapped his arms around  her and held her tight.   Ana Maria sensed that he was upset with himself, that he was thinking what they had just shared was wrong.  She pulled back a little and looked into his eyes.

"Don't be upset," she implored, "I love you, Felipe."  She caressed his cheek. "I never knew. . .  You were so sweet."

She smiled as his cheeks reddened.  It had been wonderful, amazing.  They gazed at each other shyly, knowing that something special had occurred between them, strengthening the bond they already felt.

Realizing that the hour was growing late, they began straighten out their clothing.  Ana Maria, as she pulled her dress back over her shoulders, noticed a dark stain on the front of Felipe's trousers and wondered  at its meaning.  She said nothing, however, as he assisted her to her feet.

They made a little game out of plucking dead leaves, grass, and twigs from each other's clothing before walking hand in hand back to the tavern.  They kissed each other once they were outside the back door, clinging to each other tightly as neither of them wanted to let the other go.

選 love you, Ana,' Felipe gestured when they had pulled away from each other.

"I love you too, Felipe," she whispered.  She kissed him again.  "I have to go.  Mama. . ."

Felipe signaled that he understood then he took a deep breath before opening the door for her.  She stepped through the doorway, then glanced over her shoulder.  Her heart was so full of sorrow it nearly broke as she looked at his handsome face.   She quickly closed the door so he wouldn't hear her start to cry.

Thankfully, her mother was sound asleep when Ana Maria slipped into their room.  Instead of changing in her nightdress, she walked over to the window, pushed its curtains aside, and looked out.  The tears continued to slide down her cheeks as she watched as Felipe rode out of the pueblo, taking her heart with him.

Biting her lip, she turned away from the window and went to get ready for bed.  She knelt down beside the bed and clasped her hands together, praying fervently that Felipe would be returned to her, safe and sound.  She then glanced down at the ring he had placed on her finger, causing her tears to increase.

He just had to come back to her.  He just had to.
